Last weekend, our paddlers stepped up the plate at the Singapore Dragon Boat Festival, Singapore’s National Championships. Completing in 6 categories over 2 days, our skeleton crew paddled hard and put into practice all the training and new techniques they’ve learnt over the last few months with Coach Waihong. Against tough competition, we had some great results and showed what Gaelics can do. Highlights included the IDBC Mixed team making the final, the Premier Women crew winning their heat and narrowly missing the grand final, and the IDBC Women crew earning themselves some shiny bronze medals!
It was a great festival to mark SDBA’s 30th birthday. It was fantastic to see all the current and former paddlers who turned up to show their support. The successful weekend was capped off with a team dinner at our sponsor bar, The Penny Black. Looking forward to seeing what the rest of the race season will bring!

Congratulations to everyone who participated in SDBF 2017 and a big thank you to everyone who supported the team!
This is just the beginning! Now we all know that if we really put our hearts and dedication to what we are doing, we will achieve our goals together!
We all have witnessed how our team have improved in every way from all the races we’ve had so far for 2017. Strength, endurance, technique, and most of all TEAMWORK! With all the boats that we have sent in every race, it is our teamwork and unity that drove us all to push ourselves and give the best that we can! We might not all went home with medals but every win is not an individual win but our team’s success! A team effort!
Let us all continue this journey together as ONE TEAM! ONE FAMILY!
