Hard Work Always Pays Off

How many times have you heard the quote, “No pain, no gain”? Or, “You can’t have a rainbow without rain”? And yes, biceps don’t grow on trees…

We all want good results… And in order to achieve them, we work hard, give our best, and just sweat the pain off.

Our weekend training might be tough. We might complain of the sore muscles we are feeling today. But we all know… it will get us to where we wanted to be. We know, that if we set our minds to our goal, we become our better selves.

You are stronger than you think you are. Keep working hard on that goal!

Singapore Dragon Boat Festival 2017

July 15 & 16

Gardens By The Bay East, Marina Channel

Just a few more weeks and we’ll be racing again!

This is our most awaited dragon boat race and will be happening soon… So keep coming to training!

Regular and Race Training

Wednesday 6.30 am

Saturday 2.45 pm

Sunday 9 am

Wednesday morning race training sign up is on our Facebook group page, if you want to join!

A reminder to everyone:

Please do not bring food to store at the cage. There have been cases of these unwelcome visitors scavenging in our cage, ripping holes on those bags with food. We will have to make sure they don’t nest on the shelves.

Payment:

For those non-subscription members, Saturday training is S$15. But if you are going only for the land training, it’s S$5.

Wednesday morning is covered for subscription members, and $5 for non-subscriptions.

Training Etiquette:

Please be on time for training. We need this time before paddling to ensure that the boats are ready, everyone has the right equipment, and that we have done a warm-up before getting on the boat. Please don’t leave it to your teammates to get everything ready for you. We also need this time to organise the line-up properly.

– If you are going to be late, please text Aoife at 8573 3285 before the meeting time.

– If you show up or text us too late and we do not have room on the kitted boat(s), you will not be able to train that day.

– Boat(s) will launch at 3.30pm (Saturday), 9.30am (Sunday) and 7am(Wednesday) SHARP!!!

Bags:

Please bring only what you need to training and try to avoid bringing large bags. Especially on Saturdays, as the bag cage gets very full and we want to make sure that everyone’s bag can be safely locked away.

Water/Water Bottle:

Please bring your water bottles to training to help reduce plastic waste and save our planet! If you don’t have your water bottles yet, please take 2-3 bottles of water from the cageWe will not take the boxes of water in the boat anymore.

Saturday Land Training
Join us for a session with coach. Be at the cage before 2pm (Aoife is checking the attendance)! Don’t be late!

Black Friday: The Post Divas Edition

7 July, from 7.30pm onwards

The Penny Black

A message from your Gaelic Divas Organizers:

Two weekends ago, Gaelics were out in full force at Dragon Divas 2017 to raise funds for the breast cancer research.

This coming Black Friday – the Divas Edition, we would like to acknowledge and celebrate those people who have participated and helped out on the fantastic event.

First, our Gaelic ladies who all made it to the semis, racing against other IDBC teams and made all your teammates proudly cheer of excitement.

Second, our brave gentlemen who have stepped up, transformed into green forest fairies and danced their hearts out to a cheering crowd and earned third place amongst tough competition.

And lastly, the production crew for their various contributions to get the props and costumes of our drags ready – Amy, Julie W, Triona, Peter and Sladjan. To Gwenne and Vernice for helping to turn out beautifully made up fairies on the day. And to Alina, for opening her home to a crowd of rowdy Gaelics so we could get ready on the day in style, while still watching our ladies race.

We wouldn’t have been able to accomplish it without an army like you! Thank you!

– Jenny, Richard & Zai
