A Tribute To Our Founding Father By Our Featured Writer This Week

by Cliff Price a.k.a. Captain America

David M. Beattie, The Gaelic Dragons’ founding father, arrived in Singapore in 1997 from Wales, Australia to take an assignment with Price Waterhouse Cooper.
Like many expats, David was in search of adventure and a desire to meet new people and develop a sense of belonging in a new and strange land. During the early part of his Singapore stay, David developed a passion for dragon boating. Read more…

Regular and Race Training

Wednesday 6.30 am

Saturday 2.45 pm

Sunday 9 am

Saturday land training will be based on sign ups!

Boat(s) will launch at 3.30pm (Saturday), 9.30am(Sunday) and 7am(Wednesday) SHARP!!!

A reminder to everyone:

Please do not bring food to store at the cage. There have been cases of these unwelcome visitors scavenging in our cage, ripping holes on those bags with food. We will have to make sure they don’t nest on the shelves.

For those non-subscription members, Saturday training is S$15. But if you are going only for the land training, S$5.

Training Etiquette:

Please text Aoife at 8573 3285 before meeting time if you are going to be late.

Additional Reminders

1. For those who haven’t settled membership and subscription fees, we have sent multiple reminders to you guys, so please settle it(trust me, we don’t want to be like your naggy S.O.)!

2. Please bring your own water to training. Gaelic water bottles are available in the cage for purchase.

3. If you have registered for a race, and backed out after the registration has closed, you are still required to pay for the registration fee. Be mindful that once you have signed up, we register your name and have to pay the organisers.

4. Speaking of payments(yes, people have to be reminded – seriously guys, we don’t want to sound naggy!), for those going to Penang, Aoife has sent to the chat group, the package deposit amount that you need to pay.

David Beattie Memorial Newbie Day

11 November

We are excited to announce that starting this year, we will have the David Beattie Memorial Day!

David M. Beattie is the founding father of the Gaelic Dragons and has been an inspiration to many. We are inviting all the Gaelic Dragons to join us on this day to commemorate what our founding father has built. This will be a day of races and games, with a mix of a reunion for the ‘ol Gaelic members, and a newbie day that will be held at Kallang beach. On the day, there will be special readings to be done and a ceremony.

Apart from this, we would need volunteers to sign up as a sub-committee for this event. The sub-committee will be in-charge of the fun races and games, and assist Mandy Irvine for the Newbie Day. Please fill this Google form out to sign up.
